Here are today's picks:

Phillies (Leiter Jr.) vs Mariners (Hernandez)

I remember Mark Leiter pitching in the 90s for the Phillies. Now his son is pitching for the Phillies. I feel so old.  In this game Felix gets the Mariners back on the right tract after a three game losing streak. Even though he isn’t the same pitcher as a few years ago, he is their stopper. He stops the streak today and the Mariners win.

Pick: Mariners

Rockies (Freeland) vs Giants (Blach)

The Rockies have lost seven games in a row and are sending Kyle Freeland to the mound. Freeland has thrown two gems against the Giants this year, and today he makes it a third. The Rockies end their losing streak and avoid the sweep at the hands of the Giants.

Pick: Rockies

Cubs (Lackey) vs Nationals (Strasburg)

This is an easy pick for me. John Lackey is not that good. Strasburg is. The Nationals roll in this one and take the series.

Pick: Nationals

Rays (Snell) vs Pirates (Nova)

Blake Snell got sent to the Minor Leagues for a reason. He hasn’t shown that he can beat a Major League team this year. He gets another shot today as the Rays face Ivan Nova and the Pirates. I don’t think he proves much today either. I think the Pirates get to him and Nova gets the win.

Pick: Pirates

Orioles (Miley) vs Blue Jays (Stroman)

In April I would be 100% on Marcus Stroman in this matchup. In may I would have been about 94% on Stroman. After his last couple of starts and the fact that Wade Miley has been pitching like a competent Major League pitcher again I actually hesitated a little bit. I am still going with Stroman and the Blue Jays, but not as confidently as I would have earlier in the year.

Pick: Blue Jays

Brewers (Anderson) vs Reds (Castillo)

With both the Brewers and the Cubs losing yesterday, Milwaukee still has that one game lead in the National League Central. With the Reds throwing a rookie and the Cubs throwing John Lackey, I think after the games today it will be a two game lead.

Pick: Brewers

Mets (Matz) vs Marlins (Locke)

Ugh…. Mets win.

Pick: Mets

Rangers (Darvish) vs Indians (Bauer)

Which Trevor Bauer is going to show up today. Is it going to be the one that can get 14 strikeouts and allow two runs in eight innings. Or the one who will not make it out of the fourth inning because his pitch count is so high. While I think it will be somewhere in between, I don’t think it will be enough for the Indians to get the win today.

Pick: Rangers

Royals (Kennedy) vs Tigers (Norris)

A couple of starts ago Ian Kennedy got his first win of the season. It took almost half the year but he got it. I don’t think there is another pitcher who has been in a rotation all year who is winless now. He was the last one. I think after today he will have two wins. That is right I am picking the Royals to get the job done today.

Pick: Royals

Twins (Mejia) vs Red Sox (Porcello)

What is wrong with Rick Porcello? After winning the American League Cy Young last year, Porcello has come crashing back to earth this year. He has a chance to be the first 10 game loser in the big leagues today, but I don’t’ think that will happen. I think the Red Sox score enough runs for him today and win another high scoring affair against the Twins.

Pick: Red Sox

Athletics (Hahn) vs Astros (Paulino)

The Astros are undefeated against the Athletics on the road this year, but in Houston it’s a different story. That is a common theme with the Astros this season. They are an amazing 29-9 on the road, but “only” 23-17 at home. They will make it 24-17 today as they will get back on the right side against the Athletics.

Pick: Astros

Yankees (Tanaka) vs White Sox (Rodon)

Carlos Rodon is making his 2017 debut today for the White Sox. This is a rough matchup for him to start with. I see the Yankees offense doing some damage early and often against him and carrying Tanaka to a victory.

Pick: Yankees

Cardinals (Wainwright) vs Diamondbacks (Godley)

The Diamondbacks are a good team at home. Wainwright struggles on the road. That is a recipe for a Diamondbacks win.

Pick: Diamondbacks

Dodgers (Ryu) vs Angels (Meyer)

Alex Meyer against one of the hottest teams in baseball? This is an easy pick for the Dodgers for me.

Pick: Dodgers

Braves (Colon) vs Padres (Perdomo)

Bartolo Colon is off the disabled list and back on the mound for the Braves. I don’t know if that is a good thing or a bad thing for Atlanta. I want Colon to do well, because I think the league is better when Bartolo Colon is pitching well. He is just so damn entertaining. Consider this pick for nostalgia.

Pick: Braves
