MLB Pick'Em 06/27
Full slate of games today. After missing the games this weekend and not doing well yesterday, we are now only 70 games over .500. Going to work hard to get back to 100 games over and beyond. For you. For the fans. Alright onto the results from yesterday.

Here are today's picks:
Cubs (Arrieta) vs Nationals (Scherzer)
This was supposed to be a great matchup of dominant pitchers in a like playoff series preview. Then Jake Arrieta stopped pitching well. Right now he is just an average pitcher. Max Scherzer is decidedly above average. This game goes to the Nationals.
Rays (Cobb) vs Pirates (Williams)
The Rays are two games over .500. Usually when they get to this point I will pick them to lose. That won’t be happening today. That is how little I think of the Pirates starter, Trevor Williams. I think the Rays rough him up and get the win today.
Orioles (Gausman) vs Blue Jays (Biagini)
Kevin Gausman has been one of the biggest disappointments in baseball this year. Right up there with the San Francisco Giants. He was supposed to be the ace of this staff and has done nothing to show that he can carry that load. He gets hit around again today and suffers yet another loss, this time at the hands of the Blue Jays.
Pick: Blue Jays
Brewers (Guerra) vs Reds (Adleman)
The Brewers are trying to hold off the Cubs for the lead in the National League Central. Right now they are only a game ahead of them. I don’t think they will but the Brewers have been one of the best stories in the National League so far this year. I think for at least another day they stay ahead of the Cubs as they get the win today.
Mets (Gsellman) vs Marlins (Straily)
Yet another National League East game that I really am not that interested about. The Nationals are already running away with this division. The only thing will be to see how early they clinch. As far as this game goes, I still don’t like Robert Gsellman so I am picking the Marlins.
Rangers (Ross) vs Indians (Clevinger)
I guess I was wrong on Cole Hamels yesterday. He was spotted a 9-2 lead but couldn’t make it out of the fifth inning and the Rangers lost 15-9. Today they send Tyson Ross to the mound, who is currently sporting an ERA of 9. I like the Indians bats to stay hot and for Cleveland to get another win today.
Royals (Strahm) vs Tigers (Verlander)
The Royals are now at .500. The Tigers are currently nine games under .500. You ask me a month ago I say these are reversed. The Tigers have only won 3 of their last 16 games coming into this one. With Verlander on the mound I say today they make it 4 out of 17.
Twins (Santiago) vs Red Sox (Pomeranz)
I see a lot of runs being scored in this game. Both of these pitchers like to give up the long ball, so we could see some fireworks. The Red sox offense is better than the Twins offense, so I am going with Boston to win a slugfest. Something in the 8-6 range.
Pick: Red Sox
Athletics (Manaea) vs Astros (Fiers)
Mike Fiers does not want to lose his spot in the rotation. In his last five starts he is 4-0 with a 1.72 ERA. I think he keeps pitching well and the Astros get yet another win over the Oakland Athletics.
Yankees (Severino) vs White Sox (Quintana)
I really like the way Jose Quintana is pitching. This will be a very good test for him to see if he has found it once again. I think he has. I think he keeps the White Sox in the game and they pull out a win over the Yankees.
Pick: White Sox
Cardinals (Martinez) vs Diamondbacks (Walker)
The Diamondbacks are now 21 games over .500. I love watching this team play. They grind out at bats, wear you down, and don’t beat themselves. That is the sign of a quality team. They are hot right now too, having gone 15-3 in their last 18 games. I think they stay hot and get another win over a reeling Cardinals team today.
Angels (Chavez) vs Dodgers (Maeda)
The battle for Los Angeles continues today, after the Angels took game one yesterday with a 4-0 win. I don’t think they will make it two in a row today. I give a slight edge to the Dodgers in starting pitching but a huge edge for them in offense. With that combination I think the Dodgers win comfortably. I’m going to say 5-2.
Phillies (Nola) vs Mariners (Paxton)
Now it is the Mariners turn to get right against the Phillies. After a promising start to the homestand which saw them win five games in a row, the Mariners lost the last two over the weekend to the Astros. Now they send Paxton to the mound against the Phillies. I like the Mariners chances here.
Braves (Newcomb) vs Padres (Chacin)
The Braves have not given Sean Newcomb any help in his first few starts in the Majors. He has pitched well enough to win, but hasn’t gotten any run support. Going against Jhoulys Chacin might help. Today the Braves score enough runs and get Newcomb his first win.
Rockies (Hoffman) vs Giants (Cain)
The Giants haven’t won back to back games in a month. That is astounding to me. Even the Phillies have done that more recently than the Giants. I don’t think they get it today either.
