Here are today's picks
Indians (Kluber) vs Orioles (Bundy)
In the last two games the Orioles have hit 10 home runs. They know that they need their offense to carry them to victories. That won’t happen for them today as Kluber will shut them down and get the win for a rolling Indians team.
Nationals (Roark) vs Marlins (Nicolino)
Tanner Roark has not pitched well in his las three starts. Thankfully for him, he enjoys pitching against the Marlins. He has already beat them once this year, and after today he will be two for two against them. I’m seeing six innings, two runs, five hits, and seven strikeouts. That will be more than enough to lead the Nationals to victory.
Reds (Feldman) vs Rays (Odorizzi)
The Reds are on a nine game losing streak. That will end today. I don’t have huge insight to this one, just a feeling the Reds will get back in the win column and the Rays will fall back to only one game over .500. Sidebar, time to pour one out for Bronson Arroyo, as it sounds like his career might be coming to a close.
Giants (Cueto) vs Braves (Dickey)
These two veterans square off against each other about a month ago, with Cueto coming out on top. I see no reason why that won’t happen again. Cueto hasn’t been pitching well this season, but neither has Dickey so we could be in for some fireworks here. I think the Giants will have more.
Pirates (Cole) vs Brewers (Garza)
Gerrit Cole had one of his best starts of the season in his last outing, and is looking to build on that strong performance. I believe he will. The past couple years Cole has been a bonafide ace. I think he starts rolling in that direction after a rough start to the season.
Blue Jays (Estrada) vs Rangers (Bibens-Dirkx)
Austin Bibens-Dirkx is a 32 year old rookie. I see that he is 2-0, but there is a reason why he hasn’t made the Major Leagues in the last decade. I think teams will figure him out pretty quick. Marco Estrada is a better pitcher than his record indicates, and I think that today he will get the win and even his record at 5-5.
Pick: Blue Jays
Padres (Richard) vs Cubs (Lester)
A couple weeks ago the Padres swept the Cubs in a three game series. That means the Cubs should be out for blood in this one. I like Lester and the Cubs to come out and dominate today. Something in the 7-3 range.
Red Sox (Velazquez) vs Royals (Hammel)
The Royals are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. Unfortunately for them, one of baseballs most used clichés is “momentum is only as good as the next days starting pitcher”. For Kansas City that means Jason Hammel. Ouch.
Pick: Red Sox
Tigers (Sanchez) vs Mariners (Gaviglio)
Anibal Sanchez is not good. The Mariners should light him like one of their fireworks nights. If he makes it out of the fourth inning today I will be surprised. Mariners roll in this one.
Astros (Peacock) vs Athletics (Gossett)
The Athletics just swept a four game series from the New York Yankees, and their reward is a four game series against the best team in baseball. I don’t think they will be sweeping the four game series from the Astros. In fact, I don’t think they will be winning today.
Mets (Wheeler) vs Dodgers (Kershaw)
Clayton Kershaw joins Jason Vargas as double digit winners this year. Simple, easy pick.
