MLB Pick'Em 06/01

Welcome AARP members to MLB Pick'Em 2017! You never know when you'll die and that's why we strive to make each and every pick column a guaranteed non-regret. Look, we're even catering to the golden days of advertising. I don't know who Joe Cronin is, or was, assuming he's dead. (Quick, google Joe Cronin... la de da... yep, dead. Jesus, cancer in his bones. Fucking bone cancer. Ouch. My god). All right, back from that absolutely not depressing quick google search where I found nothing and definitely did not produce any written-record of my search results.

Tobacco sure is a weird drug. I never understand if adverts like this are true or just so over the top stupid that nobody really cares. I've been drunk enough in college to have smoked a few cigarettes or two, and never have I ever thought a cigarette was mild and cool. More like regretful and nauseating. Maybe cigarettes used to be mild and cool, but then the government starting fucking with the recipe. Damn government, always messing with greatness. Hope ol' Joe Cronin saved some of the money he earned from these adverts to fight the cancer he got later in life.

June Today (1st), 2017 Picks:

Athletics (Cotton) vs Indians (Kluber)

Welcome back Corey Kluber. After missing almost a month, the Indians ace is back and will be looking to pitch better than he did the first month of the season. A matchup against the Athletics is just what the doctor ordered. Even if Kluber is on a pitch limit I still think he will be effective enough to get the win today.

Pick: Indians

Brewers (Anderson) vs Mets (Wheeler)

I love Mr. Met!!! Video surfaced yesterday of the man in the Mr. Met costume flipping off a fan. With the way the Mets are playing right now I don’t blame him. Their struggles continue today and the Brewers get the win and the split of this four game series.

Pick: Brewers

Dodgers (McCarthy) vs Cardinals (Wainwright)

A couple of crafty veterans going at it today in the finale of this series between the Cardinals and the Dodgers. Both of these guys have been throwing well of late and both have had moderate success against the opposition in their careers. I am giving a small advantage to the Dodgers, and with no confidence I am picking them to win this game.

Pick: Dodgers

Rockies (Freeland) vs Mariners (Gallardo)

The Rockies should be pissed the way they have played the last three games against the dregs of the American League. I think they will take it out on Yovanni Gallardo early and often today. The Rockies salvage one game in this four game-two city series.

Pick: Rockies

Red Sox (Rodriguez) vs Orioles (Miley)

This might be one of my favorite stats I have ever seen. Wade Miley has a a 40.50 ERA in his career against the Boston Red Sox. He has only faced them once and he gave up six runs and only got four outs in this game. Now I obviously think that ERA will come down after the game today, but I do think that the Red Sox will get the win.

Pick: Red Sox

Yankees (Sabathia) vs Blue Jays (Estrada)

If the Blue Jays win today they will be back to .500 for the season. After the start they got off too, not winning consecutive games in April, that will be quite an accomplishment. I think that they will do that today too. The Blue Jays get to Sabathia and Estrada holds the potent Yankee offense down enough to get the win today.

Pick: Blue Jays

Diamondbacks (Greinke) vs Pirates (Locke)

The Marlins have won two in a row against the Diamondbacks and are looking to sweep the series. Zack Greinke will not let that happen. Diamondbacks win.

Pick: Diamondbacks

Twins (Mejia) vs Angels (Meyer)

I have very little confidence in both of these pitchers. I have seen Alex Meyer in person, so I know what he has. It isn’t very much. I think the Twins get the win today in a high scoring game where both teams get to the bullpen early.

Pick: Twins
