MLB Pick'Em 05/23
Welcome, Americans, to MLB Pick'Em 2017! We had a small slate of games yesterday and that's the main reason we didn't fair so well. It's like this, if you go to a casino and lose $200, and that's all the money you have, then you lose $200, but if you actually had $400, then you would still have $200 to get all your money back, and then some! Or since we bet on baseball, it's like baseball, if go 0-3 and get benched, then you'll never have the chance to go 1-4, hell, maybe even 2-5! You know? It's not fair there was only 9 games yesterday. If there was the usual 15 games, we probably would have definitely could have possibly should have pulled to even... at the very least!

May Today (23rd), 2017 Picks:
Giants (Cueto) vs Cubs (Lester)
The Giants are coming! The Giants are coming! They built themselves a huge hole and are still in fourth place in the National League West but they are coming. They are currently playing the best baseball in the National League, and they give the ball to their ace today. I like the Giants to continue to play like we thought they would before the season started and get the win today.
Twins (Santana) vs Orioles (Bundy)
Dylan Bundy is doing what the Orioles thought Kevin Gausman would give them this year. He is pitching deep into games and giving them a chance to win every time out. The same can be said for Ervin Santana. This will be a low scoring game but I like Bundy and the Orioles to come out on top and even up the series.
Royals (Duffy) vs Yankees (Montgomery)
If it feels like you just saw this matchup you are not wrong. These two pitchers faced off just five days ago, with Duffy coming out on top. I think there will be similar results today. I like the Royals to get the win in a low scoring game, with Duffy spinning another gem.
Mariners (Bergman) vs Nationals (Ross)
I don’t trust Joe Ross. I don’t trust Christian Bergman. I definitely trust the Nationals offense a lot more than the Mariners offense. I think this will be a higher scoring game which will definitely benefit the home team.
Rockies (Marquez) vs Phillies (Elfin)
German Marquez pitches well away from Coors Field, like most Rockies pitchers do. He has an era under one away from the Mile High City, and now he gets to face the pathetic excuse for a lineup that is the Philadelphia Phillies. That sounds like a Rockies win to me.
Rangers (Cashner) vs Red Sox (Porcello)
Now that the Rangers are done beating up on the dregs of Major League Baseball, let’s see what they do against a real team. The last four series have been against the Padres, Athletics, Phillies, and Tigers team without Victor Martinez and Miguel Cabrera. This is a real test for them. I think that today Porcello and the Red Sox get the best of them.
Pick: Red Sox
Indians (Carrasco) vs Reds (Garrett)
The Indians just can’t get out of their own way. They are more talented than their record indicates. I feel like they have a huge run in them. Not if but when. In the game today they will even up the series against the Reds and they will do it both offensively and defensively. Carrasco will shut them down and the offense will get on rack and hit at least two home runs.
Padres (Chacin) vs Mets (Harvey)
I’m not going to waste a lot of time on this game. I think good Matt Harvey shows up and the Mets win. I know I say that a lot but one of these teams it will actually happen.
Angels (Shoemaker) vs Rays (Cobb)
The Angels were the team to get a game over .500 after taking game one from the Rays yesterday. Like I said, these teams are both perfectly average. Whoever won yesterday, I was going to take the other team to win today. Angels yesterday. Rays today. Both teams back at .500.
Pirates (Glasnow) vs Braves (Dickey)
Dickey is throwing this game on three days rest. He hasn’t been good this year on regular rest, so I don’t think he will be good on shorter rest. It makes sense that knuckleballers can recover quicker than regular pitchers because they don’t throw as hard. But I still don’t like it. I think his knuckleball will be flat today and the Pirates will tee off on it.
Blue Jays (Biagini) vs Brewers (Nelson)
I’m going with the hot hand in this one. That would be the offense of the Milwaukee Brewers. I don’t think Joe Biagini is going to be the one to slow them down.
Tigers (Zimmermann) vs Astros (McCullers)
Jordan Zimmermann somehow has a 4-2 record, despite having an ERA over six. The Tigers must score a lot of runs on when he is on the mound. It won’t happen against a team as good as the Astros. Houston wins this one.
White Sox (Covey) vs Diamondbacks (Corbin)
See what happens when you don’t play the Mariners, Chicago? You play like people thought you would, instead of a team that looks like it should win the World Series. The Diamondbacks will do the same thing to them that they did yesterday. Win comfortably.
Cardinals (Lynn) vs Dodgers (Kershaw)
If this was in the postseason I would pick the Cardinals. It is not the postseason so I am going with Kershaw and the Dodgers.
Marlins (Urena) vs Athletics (Hahn)
Somehow Oakland is only four games under .500. I thought they were doing way worse than that. Now they face a Marlins team that is way worse. Oakland’s offense continues to mash on Jose Urena and they get the interleague win today.
