MLB Pick'Em 05/03
Welcome comedians and sport aficionados to MLB Pick'Em 2017! Times are tough for all of us out there. Joe Ross is in AAA again and I don't know about you, but I poured one out for him. Hope he finds a third pitch, dominates the inferior competition and returns to my dynasty team, I mean, the Nationals, as soon as possible.

May Today (3rd), 2017 Picks:
Blue Jays (Stroman) vs Yankees (Sabathia)
Aaron Judge is lighting the world on fire right now for the Yankees with five home runs on this home stand alone. The Yankees continue to hit the long ball and now face Marcus Stroman, who doesn’t usually give up home runs. I’m going with the pitching of Stroman to stymie the Yankees bats enough for the Blue Jays to get the win today.
Pick: Blue Jays
Diamondbacks (Ray) vs Nationals (Gonzalez)
Gio Gonzalez is pitching like its 2012 all over again. That year he won 21 games win the Nationals and with a current record of 3-0 with an ERA under 2, he is well on his way. I do not think he will get to 21 wins this year but he will get his fourth win of the season today. Nationals win and Gio keeps rolling.
Orioles (Gausman) vs Red Sox (Pomeranz)
This series has had a little bit of everything already. Yesterday you had Chris Sale throwing behind the knees of Manny Machado, and then Machado going on a tirade after the game. I personally think Machado overreacted in this one, because it wasn’t at his head. It was lower. Anyways there is a game today, and to me Kevin Gausman is getting the Wade Miley – Mat Latos treatment. No thank you.
Pick: Red Sox
Indians (Carrasco) vs Tigers (Boyd)
These two pitchers squared off already once this year, with Boyd beating Carrasco in a game where both threw well. After Kluber had to exit the game early yesterday the Indians are looking for Carrasco to go deep in this game to save the bullpen. I think he will and the Indians will get the win Carrasco will get his revenge on Boyd.
Pirates (Taillon) vs Reds (Davis)
Rookie Davis has an ERA over 11. That really is all I need to know when making this pick.
Marlins (Conley) vs Rays (Snell)
The battle for Florida moves from Miami to Tampa Bay and that should be a welcome sight for the Marlins. The Rays took the first two games of the series and now head home and put Blake Snell on the mound. I like the Rays to make it three in a row against the Marlins, with Snell getting his first win of the season.
Mets (DeGrom) vs Braves (Colon)
I don’t know what to do with the Mets. They are throwing their best healthy pitcher today against former teammate Bartolo Colon. This game could go either way for me but I am going to with DeGrom and the Mets to beat Colon. I don’t know why I keep picking these guys but here we are.
Phillies (Eickhoff) vs Cubs (Arrieta)
Jake Arrieta is 3-1 this year but hasn’t pitched up to his usual superb standards. He has gotten a lot of run support in his wins and I think that will continue today. The Cubs score runs in bunches and it is usually when Arrieta is on the mound. Today they score at least six to take the series against the Phillies.
Athletics (Graveman) vs Twins (Santiago)
Kendall Graveman has been the lone bright spot for the Athletics in the rotation so far this year. He looks to keep the momentum going against the Twins in Minneapolis today. Both of these teams strike out a ton so both pitchers should have some success there. Both teams also hit a lot of home runs and I think the Twins will get that off of Graveman today and ultimately win the game.
Rangers (Martinez) vs Astros (Morton)
Houston is a really good baseball team ladies and gentleman. The Astros go for the sweep in the Lone Star Series against the Rangers today and they will get it. They always seem to get the big hit or make the big play when they need it. That is the sign of a quality team. This Astros team is one that could win it all by the time the season is done, they are that good.
White Sox (Pelfrey) vs Royals (Karns)
I will pick against Nathan Karns in every start until he proves that he is actually a good Major League pitcher. The stuff is there, he just can’t get anyone out. I don’t know why he can’t but I do know that I am picking the White Sox to win this one.
Pick: White Sox
Brewers (Anderson) vs Cardinals (Wainwright)
The Cardinals just seem to have the Brewers’ number. Milwaukee hasn’t won a series against St. Louis since 2014, a span of 17 series. They will need to win today and tomorrow to reverse that streak and I just don’t see it happening. Even though Wainwright hasn’t had a great start to the season, he pitches better against the Brewers than any other team. For that reason I am taking the Cardinals.
Angels (Nolasco) vs Mariners (Iwakuma)
The Angels beat the Mariners in eleven innings yesterday to improve to 4-0 against Seattle in this young season. The Mariners are turning to Hisashi Iwakuma to go deep in this game and give the bullpen a breather. I think he answers the bell for the Mariners and they get their first win over the Halos this season.
Giants (Samardzija) vs Dodgers (Urias)
Julio Urias will be here to stay folks. Like I said in his last start he will force himself into that rotation and he will not give up his spot. Today he is facing the Dodgers biggest rival and he will once again mow them down. Combine that with the fact that Samardzija is on the other side and I like the Dodgers to win comfortably today.
Rockies (Senzatela) vs Padres (Weaver)
Antonio Senzatela suffered his first loss of the season in his last start. He was facing a Nationals team that has been hitting the cover off the ball, so it is understandable. He gets a much friendlier matchup today against Weaver and the Padres. I think Senzatela gets back on the winning side and the Rockies take the game.
