NBA Pick'Em 05/17: Playoffs

Thanks for enduring this madness that we call the NBA Playoffs. I wish I had the idea to start a journal recap of the playoffs from the point of view of a man trapped on a deserted island. I think it'd go something like this:

"May 16th, 2017

Supplies run low. I'm down to just four teams. I think I mentioned that the Celtics beat the Wizards to join the Cavaliers in the ECF. I don't know. Provisions have been so low that my brain stammers for thought. What's worse yet is the quality of the remaining provisions have been poisoned. Kawhi Leonard was held out of Game 2 of the WCF. It was so enjoyable to watch Game 1, I almost felt like I were back home, watching competitive basketball. It brings sorrow to my heart to think a sweep will actually happen yet again. I hope the new series in the east will bring relief. If not, I will have to wait until Friday for another chance at rescue. I hope Kawhi recovers by Saturday. God willing.

Wow! What a captivating read. I should hire an agent before Hollywood starts pounding on my door for the movie rights!

May Yesterday (16th), 2017 Picks:

Spurs @ Warriors, pick Warriors, WON

Yesterday's Record: 1-0

May Today (17th), 2017 Picks:

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Boston Celtics

During Franklin D. Roosevelt's first inaugural address he famously stated, "Only thing we have to fear is fear itself." I think he was trying to say that by focusing on their troubles, they were making them worse. Don't forget, we were in the midst of the depression and needed to stop draining the banks of money. Silly 1930s people. If you haven't guessed, LeBron James is the depression that is about to hit Boston. Will they rush their jumpers? Will Olynyk panic and rip out another shoulder? They barely beat the Celtics.

The thing is that the Cavaliers can shoot the deep ball. We all know this. That's cool, though, because the Celts have some great perimeter defenders. Shoot, if the Celts play some good perimeter D, they might leave the middle open for someone like Lebron to "HULK SMASH" all game long. Okay, no problem, Horford can sit back a bit and do his best to stop LeBron.. and now there's wide-open arc shots raining down around them. Oh, I see why a lot of people think the Cavaliers will sweep the Celts. Oh no. I like the Celts. I'm happy they just got the #1 pick in the draft. I kind of hope they flip that pick into Paul George. Hell of a damn team if they get George. I don't trust Fultz. I just don't see top 10 player potential.

I find I'm so worried for the Celtics I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the worry only a casual fan without an NBA team because Clay Bennett ripped my god-damned heart out of my chest can feel, a casual fan at the start of the ECF whose conclusion seems certain. I hope I can see the Celtics win some games. I hope to see the games stay close enough to see Thomas launch a game-winner. I hope the Celtics compete as hard as they have in my dreams. I hope.
