MLB Pick'Em 05/16
Welcome fanatics to MLB Pick'Em 2017! How you got lost going to ComiCon and found yourself in these hallowed halls is a mystery to you and I, maybe it's the beginning of a grand adventure where we learn a little bit about each other? And after we've defeated the overlord and return the earth realm, I'm reading the occasional comic book and you're attending baseball games. Haha, when we stop to learn a little a bit, we grow as people.

May Today (16th), 2017 Picks:
Braves (Garcia) vs Blue Jays (Estrada)
Now that the Blue Jays aren’t playing the Mariners they start losing again. Yesterday they got waxed by Bartolo Colon and the Braves. That isn’t an easy thing to do this year as Colon hasn’t been good at all. In today’s game I like the Blue Jays to bounce back behind the pitching of Marco Estrada. He gets a comfortable win for Toronto and they even up the series.
Pick: Blue Jays
Rays (Odorizzi) vs Indians (Salazar)
Yesterday Chris Archer was the pitcher I like that I am picking against. Today that is Danny Salazar. This hasn’t been a great year for the 2016 all-star and I think he will bounce back, but today will be Tampa Bay’s day. The Rays get the win here.
Nationals (Strasburg) vs Pirates (Kuhl)
Strasburg had a rough outing his last time out against the Orioles. He doesn’t have back to back bad outings. He bounces back today and the Nationals get the win.
Orioles (Miley) vs Tigers (Boyd)
The Tigers can’t hit their way out of a wet paper bag right now. They have two regulars hitting over .240. That is not going to win you a lot of games. Combine that offensive futility with the way Wade Miley is pitching right now and that is a recipe for an Orioles win.
Astros (Keuchel) vs Marlins (Koehler)
Dallas Keuchel until he loses.
Phillies (Eflin) vs Rangers (Darvish)
Texas has won six games in a row against the Padres and Athletics. In other words the dregs of baseball. Now they face another team that they are supposed to beat up on. I think they will. This is the time for the Rangers to get back in the American League West race. They are too talented to be this far behind the Astros already.
Reds (Arroyo) vs Cubs (Lackey)
Two pitchers I don’t like picking are facing each other. I have to pick one of them. I am going to with the Cubs as they have the better overall time. Let’s move on, I don’t want to spend anymore time on this game than I have too.
Rockies (Freeland) vs Twins (Hughes)
If you have told me in March that this would be a matchup between division leaders I would have asked to have some of whatever you were smoking. Yet here we are, six weeks into the season with the Rockies and Twins leading their respective divisions. I think the Rockies have staying power. Not sold on the Twins yet. Rockies win today.
Red Sox (Rodriguez) vs Cardinals (Lynn)
The Cardinals have blown past the .500 mark, winning 8 of their last 9, and now find themselves in first place in the National League Central. Now they face the Red Sox, a sputtering team that went only 2-4 last week. This is a good pitching matchup but I am going to give a slight edge to the Red Sox, and I think they take the opener of this two game series today.
Pick: Red Sox
Yankees (Sabathia) vs Royals (Hammel)
I don’t care who is throwing for the Yankees, you will not find me picking Jason Hammel against that offense. They will tee off on him early and often and Sabathia will be able to cruise.
Mets (Milone) vs Diamondbacks (Greinke)
I was right yesterday in saying the Diamondbacks would win the game off of the Mets bullpen. It happened a little later than I thought but they still got the job done. Today they will get it done off of the starter. Greinke will outpitch Tommy Milone, and the Diamondbacks will get the win again.
White Sox (Holland) vs Angels (Ramirez)
Mike Trout appears to be locked in, hitting home runs in four straight games for the Angels. Now he is facing former Texas Ranger Derek Holland, a pitcher he has enjoyed much success with. I think he will hit another bomb today and lead the Angels to a win over Holland and the White Sox.
Athletics (Triggs) vs Mariners (De Jong)
The Mariners sure like to make it interesting. They walked five Athletics batters in the ninth inning and still somehow ended up winning. They won’t be so lucky today. De Jong won’t get out of the fifth inning and Triggs and the Athletics will even up the series.
Brewers (Nelson) vs Padres (Richard)
These two pitchers have had similar starts to the year. Both had their best starts of the season in their previous outings, and are looking to keep it going. I think one of them will. I think Richards will get burned by the Brewers offense and Nelson will keep the Padres hitters at bay. I like the Brewers to get the win and tie this series at one game apiece.
Dodgers (Hill) vs Giants (Blach)
Four in a row for the Giants since that marathon game. They are starting to pitch like the team everyone thought they would be coming out of Spring Training. They win #5 in a row today and keep the momentum going.
