Monthly Picks: 63-68
Yearly Picks: 258-246

Red Sox (Rodriguez) vs Brewers (Nelson

Everyone thought the Red Sox would have the high octane offense entering this series. The Brewers proved them all wrong, scoring 18 runs in the first two games and looking for the sweep today. I don’t think they will get there however. I like the Red Sox to get the win and avoid the sweep. It will be a high scoring affair but the Red Sox will end up on the winning end.

Pick: Red Sox

Royals (Vargas) vs Rays (Odorizzi)

Another game between two teams that are bickering at each other. I don’t know what it is about this year but it seems like more teams are complaining about pitches inside and about getting hit. To me that is just baseball, but I guess I am old school. In this game I like the Rays to get the win as Odorizzi continues to flummox the Royals hitters.

Pick: Rays

Astros (Keuchel) vs Yankees (Pineda)

Right now Dallas Keuchel is getting the Cardinal and Dodger treatment. I am going to pick him until he loses. That equals an Astros win.

Pick: Astros

Orioles (Bundy) vs Nationals (Cole)

Dylan Bundy is finally living up to the expectations that made him the fourth overall pick in 2011. He has had seven straight quality starts and has been the best pitcher for one of the best teams in the American League. I think he gets his eighth consecutive quality start today as he holds the big Nationals bats at bay. Orioles win.

Pick: Orioles

Mariners (De Jong) vs Blue Jays (Estrada)

The Mariners have 80% of their projected starting rotation on the disabled list right now. When you score eleven runs a game that doesn’t seem to matter. The Blue Jays are the opposite, with their best hitters getting injured. I think today the team with the front line pitching gets the win, and the Blue Jays take game one of this four game series.

Pick: Blue Jays

Padres (Richard) vs Rangers (Perez)

The Padres flipped Richard and Jhoulys Chacin in the rotation, because Texas can’t hit lefties. The southpaw has had moderate success against Texas in his career and I think today he has a very good game. Martin Perez has gotten worse since the season started, and I don’t think that will change either. I like the Padres to get the win in this one today.

Pick: Padres

Twins (Hughes) vs White Sox (Holland)

This was lifted from the predictions yesterday. I like the way the Twins are playing right now. They are taking the mindset of their manager and are grinding out at bats just like Paul Molitor used to do. They are not there yet, as you could see from their series against the Red Sox, but they are trending in the right direction. I think they continue to beat up on the bad teams and take this game from the White Sox today.

Pick: Twins

Dodgers (Ryu) vs Rockies (Anderson)

Still rolling with the Dodgers until they lose. Tyler Anderson is a leftie, but he is dealing with a sore knee and might not pitch today. Another advantage for the Dodgers.

Pick: Dodgers

Pirates (Cole) vs Diamondbacks (Greinke)

The Diamondbacks bats got back in the right direction yesterday, hitting three home runs in a 7-1 win. I don’t think they will have as much success today against the Pirates ace. I think Cole and Greinke will both pitch well today, and this game could very well come down to the bullpen. Advantage Pirates there.

Pick: Pirates

Tigers (Fulmer) vs Angels (Ramirez)

Today hopefully brings the return of Mike Trout. After missing almost a week with a hamstring injury he is expected to be back in the lineup today. Granted that is what they said the last two days so who knows. Honestly even with him being in there I am going to go with the Tigers to win. I like the way Fulmer is pitching and I don’t trust the Angels bats.

Pick: Tigers

Reds (Arroyo) vs Giants (Blach)

The last time Ty Blach faced the Reds he allowed 10 runs in 3 innings in a Giants blowout loss. It would take a lot for me to pick him to win this time. Something like… opposing Bronson Arroyo. Still not ready to jump on the Arroyo train yet. Give me a bounce back for Blach and a win for the Giants.

Pick: Giants
