MLB Pick'Em 04/28
Welcome to MLB Pick'Em 2017! This is the final day that we celebrate the comedic genius that is Wll Ferrell. It's a sad one too, because so far we've gone 60-45 with him as our mascot. That's putting the bacon on table if you ask me.

April Today (28th), 2017 Picks:
Orioles (Gausman) vs Yankees (Sabathia)
I don’t know what is wrong with Kevin Gausman. He has the stuff but he has been pitching like garbage lately. Now he faces a hot team in the Yankees at home. That is not a good sign for him. I think he gives up three home runs today and continues to struggle. Yankees win.
Mets (DeGrom) vs Nationals (Scherzer)
The Nationals bats are white hot right now (partly because of Coors Field, partly because they are really good) and now face old nemesis Jacob DeGrom. The Mets are the walking wounded right now and they face Scherzer, who always pitches well against them. I like the Nationals to take game one of this series today.
Rays (Snell) vs Blue Jays (Stroman)
Oh Toronto. All you had to do was win one game yesterday and you would have won your first series of the year. Alas, it was not meant to be. Marcus Stroman has been a bright spot in a dreary season for Toronto, having already thrown two complete games. He also has already beaten Tampa Bay once this year. Today he does it again.
Pick: Blue Jays
Cubs (Arrieta) vs Red Sox (Pomeranz)
Is this a World Series preview? It very well could be as the Cubs and Red Sox square off at Fenway Park this weekend. I will be keeping an eye on this series as these are two quality baseball teams. I think Arrieta and the Cubs will take game one today as Drew Pomeranz struggles once again.
Mariners (Miranda) vs Indians (Carrasco)
The Mariners are showing a little bit of fight now that half the team is injured. I like what I am seeing. Unfortunately they now head to Cleveland, which has been a house of horrors for the Mariners the last few years. That will continue today as the Indians take game one of the series against the Mariners.
White Sox (Pelfrey) vs Tigers (Boyd)
Mike Pelfrey was with the Tigers all the way through the end of the Spring Training. After he was let go he was snatched up by the White Sox and now he is facing his former team. He wasn’t good enough to make the Tigers roster and I think that will show today as Detroit gets the win against their division foe.
Pirates (Taillon) vs Marlins (Conley)
The Pirates have been wasting some quality starts by Jameson Taillon this year and they hope today will be a different story. Taillon has an ERA of around 2 but only has one win to show for it as the Pirates don’t score runs when he is on the mound. Adam Conley shuts them down again and the Marlins win a low scoring affair today.
Angels (Skaggs) vs Rangers (Martinez)
Anytime that has mike Trout should be entertaining to watch right? Well maybe the Angels would be if they got some decent starting pitching. Now they are throwing Tyler Skaggs against the Rangers in Arlington. Give me the Rangers bats waking up today and getting the win against Skaggs and the Angels.
Braves (Colon) vs Brewers (Anderson)
Chase Anderson has been a revelation for the Brewers so far this year. Combine that with Eric Thames hitting a home fun every at bat (only slight exaggeration) and the Brewers are a fun team to watch this year. Thames is battling a hamstring injury but even without him in the lineup I like the Brewers to win against Colon and the Braves today.
Athletics (Cotton) vs Astros (Morton)
The Astros are leveling the playing field a bit as they have injuries to George Springer and Jose Altuve. That gives the Athletics a fighting chance in this game. Jharel Cotton is very inconsistent but I think today will be one of the good days for him. The Athletics win the first game of the series today against the leader of the American League West.
Twins (Gibson) vs Royals (Kennedy)
The Royals have lost seven games in a row and the biggest reason why is their offense. I have talked often about their inability to hit the ball but it just continues. 2015 must feel like a distant memory to these guys. They look to get back on track today against the Twins and I think they will. That is how poorly Kyle Gibson has pitched this year. Even the Royals will get a few runs on him!
Reds (Adelman) vs Cardinals (Lynn)
The Cardinals have scratched and clawed their way back to .500 after a dismal start and the reason why is because they have been playing at home. They are 8-2 in the last ten games with six of those being in the friendly confines of Busch Stadium. They are staying at home playing a Reds team that has to be happy to see Eric Thames in the rearview mirror. That doesn’t matter today as the Cardinals stay hot and get the win.
Rockies (Freeland) vs Diamondbacks (Ray)
These are the two teams that are currently sitting atop the standings of the National League West. Not the Giants and the Dodgers. These two teams. Now they face off with two young pitchers that have gotten off to good starts this year. I like both of these teams a lot. I like the Rockies a little bit better today.
Phillies (Eickhoff) vs Dodgers (Maeda)
The Phillies have won six games in a row and are looking to stay in the hunt in the National League East. They are starting a west coast road trip right now against Maeda and the Dodgers. While the Dodgers have been inconsistent in April, Kenta Maeda is not one of those guys. He has been consistently bad and I think that is the reason why the Phillies win today.
Padres (Perdomo) vs Giants (Samardzija)
Jeff Samarzdija is 0-4 this year and has an ERA over 7. That is not what you want to see from a pitcher you gave over $100 million dollars to a few a years ago. At least Luis Perdomo isn’t making that much as he also has an ERA right around 7. Not exactly going out on a limb here in saying a lot of runs will be scored in this one. I think more of them will be scored by the Padres today.
