NBA Pick'Em 04/23: Playoffs
Thanks for accepting the invitation to read my picks. Nice that you noticed it nestled between that Gem game and Farmville. I almost went perfect yesterday, and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling Grizzlies. Damn, they have heart. Now I'm torn between wishing heavily they get those very same hearts ripped out in cold-hearted fashion by losing the next two or hoping they become like the Grinch, grow those hearts three sizes and knock off the Spurs. Only time and my picks will tell.
However, the Raptors played like big boys, the hawks realized they were in the playoffs, and the Warriors let the Trailblazers think they were capable of something--how nice.
April Yesterday (22nd), 2017 Picks:
Raptors at Bucks, pick Raptors, WON
Wizards @ Hawks, pick Hawks, WON
Spurs @ Grizzlies, pick Spurs, LOST
Warriors @ Trailblazers, pick Warriors, WON
Yesterday's Record: 3-1
Playoff Record: 17-9
April Today (23rd), 2017 Picks:
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Indiana Pacers
Break out the broom, cause the Cleveland Cavaliers will be leaving behind a mess of corks and those weird confetti things that you pop and only cost .99.
Houston Rockets @ Oklahoma City Thunder
If I were a betting man, I'd bet the Rockets. If my life were on the line, I'd bet the Rockets. If I were a statistician, I'd bet the Rockets. It's not hard to see that the Rockets generally shoot better than 28% from three, that the Thunder shoot worse than 47%, generally, and that the fact the Rockets still only lost by 2 points means they'll be back in a big way today.
Boston Celtics @ Chicago Bulls
Ah, the playoff series that might be the most interesting in the entire first round. It's competitors: Spurs vs Grizz and Clippers vs Jazz. I'd take this series because it's so unknown. Stats don't tell you much. Injuries might be telling us something. It's difficult to say. Isaiah Thomas is still hurting from a tragedy. Rondo won't be playing because of his thumb injury (the toe of the hands, Blake). The Celtics finally played like a #1 seed, but they did so coincidentally as Butler had a poop game. Would have been more impressive if they overcame a competing Bulls team. The Celts pretty much shot the lights out in Game 3. I don't expect them to do the same in Game 4, which is why they won't be winning by nearly as much.
Los Angeles Clippers @ Utah Jazz
Sweet injury, Adam West, Batman's original logo who conveniently has the same last name as the NBA logo Jerry West. Now that Blake Griffin's toe, a fucking toe, crucial to walking, has had its period, this changes everything. Who will step up for the Clippers? Whoever it is, I just hope they don't break their toe.
