MLB Pick'Em 04/20
Welcome to the 2017 edition of MLB Pick'Em, we're stoked to have you. As you are well aware of, it is the April 20th day of the year. On April 20th, we enjoy ourselves. We put on a little bit of music and let the vibes roll through us. Seriously, friends, enjoy your world today. Give yourself a moment to drop your problems and feel weightless. Speaking of weightless, I recommend using one of those sensory deprivation tanks someday. Really amazing meditation.

April Today (20th), 2017 Picks:
Red Sox (Sale) vs Blue Jays (Estrada)
Chris Sale has been absolute nails for the Red Sox so far this year. I have no reason to think that won’t continue against a Blue Jays offense that is still struggling despite all the big names. Red Sox win this one easy.
Pick: Red Sox
Indians (Bauer) vs Twins (Santana)
Yesterday I picked Trevor Bauer to win and the game was postponed. Now instead of facing a rookie he is facing one of the hottest pitchers in baseball. I am switching my pick to Santana and the Twins today. Sorry Trevor, I am still rooting for you!
Tigers (Norris) vs Rays (Ramirez)
Oh Erasmo Ramirez. So frustrating to watch you pitch. I don’t think that will change and I think the Tigers will get the sting of losing on a walk-off error yesterday out of their system. Tigers win this one and Ramirez gets roughed up.
Angels (Shoemaker) vs Astros (McCullers)
Matt Shoemaker and the Angels are still struggling out of the gate in 2017. The Astros are staying hot and now turn to McCullers to keep the momentum going. I think he succeeds and the Astros take down the Halos again.
Orioles (Miley) vs Reds (Feldman)
I am 0-2 in picking this series so far. In the rubber match I am going back to my tried and true method of picking against Wade Miley. It burned me the last time he pitched. Let’s see if he can actually make me think twice about in his next start. I don’t think he will but ya never know.
Phillies (Nola) vs Mets (Syndergaard)
The Mets mastery over the Phillie continued yesterday and will continue today. I just don’t see Syndergaard losing this game unless he gets blisters again. Even that might not matter against the Phillies. The Mets take another one from the fightin’ Phils and win the series 3-1.
Nationals (Strasburg) vs Braves (Dickey)
See what happens to the Braves when they aren’t playing the Padres. They suddenly seem like the team everyone thought they were. And yet I am going to pick them to win for the sole reason I don’t think they will get swept. I have no reason to pick them and yet I am going to anyways. This is one of those gut over brain picks.
Royals (Duffy) vs Rangers (Cashner)
Jason Vargas and Danny Duffy have been two of the bright spots for the Royals this year. Vargas spun a gem yesterday against the Giants and now it is Duffy’s turn to match against the Rangers. I think he will do just that and the royals will beat the Rangers in Arlington.
Cardinals (Martinez) vs Brewers (Davies)
Both of these pitchers are 0-2. One of the has an ERA under 4 and one has an ERA over 8. I am going to go with the pitcher with the ERA under 4. Not only is he a better pitcher but his team has a better offense. This is a no brainer. Cardinals win.
Diamondbacks (Corbin) vs Padres (Richard)
The Diamondbacks are playing well really well and now they are facing a pitcher they have had a lot of success with so far. Clayton Richard has struggled in his career against the Diamondbacks and I think those struggles continue. The Diamondbacks bats stay hot and they win the series against the Padres.
Mariners (Paxton) vs Athletics (Valdez)
Both of these pitchers have an ERA of 0.00. The difference is this is Valdez’ first start this season and it is James Paxton’s fourth. James Paxton has pitched like an ace so far this year and while I do think he will surrender his first run of the year today I also think he will get the win as the mariners stay hot and make it 6 out of 7 since they unveiled the Griffey statue outside Safeco Field.
