MLB Pick'Em 04/10
Welcome, Everett, one-day-old son of our favorite staff writer, to MLB Pick'Em 2017! Let this be your first brush with the wild-nature of sports betting. I'll assume these picks will be dictated to you by your old man. That's fine. I am marginally disappointed you haven't started reading yet, considering your bloodline, but I can only guess you picked up listening to the written word instead of using your eyes from your mother. So be it, little one.

April Today (10th), 2017 Picks:
Rays (Cobb) vs Yankees (Pineda)
Michael Pineda was horrific in his first start in 2017. I just don’t know if I can trust him anymore. He has no consistency. Alex Cobb has already pitched well against the Yankees once this year, and I think he does it again today as Tampa Bay wins.
Red Sox (Sale) vs Tigers (Verlander)
What a pitching matchup this is going to be! I predict a final score of 2-1. Red Sox. (This would be an easier call to make if the Red Sox had a healthy outfield.)
Pick: Red Sox
Athletics (Cotton) vs Royals (Kennedy)
Both of these two struggled to start the season, that being said, I am going with the guy who has a proven track record. At this point you know what Ian Kennedy is—a serviceable pitcher who can eat up innings. You don’t know what you are getting with Jharel Cotton. I am picking the known over the unknown and going with the Royals today.
Diamondbacks (Walker) vs Giants (Moore)
People thought a change of scenery might do Taijuan Walker some good. Those same people have to be scratching their heads after his first start in a Rattlesnake uniform. Yes, he got the win, but he was no better than a monkey throwing its own feces at onlookers while doing it. Now he face them again. This time the Giants bring honor to their family.
Astros (Morton) vs Mariners (Paxton)
This is a rematch of a game, played last week, which saw the Astros win in extras. The Mariners have to be feeling themselves right now after allowing SEVEN runs in the ninth inning to lose to the Angels. I haven’t seen any news reports about a player’s-only meeting where a season-changing inspirational speech was given—so I think the losing for the Mariners continues and the Astros make it 4 out of 5 against Seattle to start the season.
Cardinals (Wainwright) vs Nationals (Roark)
I like this pitching matchup. Wainwright still has a pulse and Tanner Roark is one of the most underrated pitchers in allllllllll oooooof baseball. Me thinks that Roark and the Nationals get the best of Wainwright, but it should be a fun game to watch. Set your Tivos, you won’t want to miss this one!
Mets (DeGrom) vs Phillies (Eickhoff)
It seems to me that the Mets have a pitching advantage in every game they have. That means sometimes I am going to have to pick them to lose, matchups be damned. Today is one of those days. No reason for it, just think that today will be the Phillies day.
Reds (Finnegan) vs Pirates (Glasnow)
Is Brandon Finnegan for real? He sure looked real good in his first start after having a good spring. If he continues to pitch like this, then the Reds might have found their future ace. I am buying Finnegan stock right now. He out-duels Glasnow and the reds de ohio get the victory.
Dodgers (Wood) vs Cubs (Lester)
This is an early season matchup between the two teams that the majority of experts think will meet in the NLCS. I love early season matchups like this. Both teams have a deep lineup, but runs will be at a premium. I don’t think either team will sweep this series, but Lester and the Cubs will take first blood.
Padres (Cahill) vs Rockies (Chatwood)
A Padre pitcher at Coors Field? Sign me up for the over! There will be a lot of runs scored, many bases will be stomped and the home team will be doing most, if not all, of the ground pound.
